Florida Hunts

Although not know for it hunting opportunities, Florida is unique to other states in what it offers. With the highly prized Osceola turkey being the number one attraction, We also have hunts for giant Alligators and very good waterfowl hunting during late winter months. Wild pigs are also available to hunt year round in Florida.

The toughest turkey of the grand slam to get is without question, the Osceola. Named after a Florida tribe Indian chief, the Osceola spends most of the year hiding from predators in the thick swamp bottoms that cover south Florida. During the mating season its better known as a field bird and seem to always stay just out of shotgun range from the edges of pastures. A very Wiley birds, the Osceola can be a call shy tom that can hang up for hours while you call.

Deep South Outfitter has offered a 100% success rate for the past half dozen year. We are proud of this record which is nearly impossible to maintain with lands for hunting these turkeys becoming hard and hard to find and keep, due to development in the state. Seems the whole world wants to live in sunny Florida.

Maybe my biggest attraction is the hunts we offer for giant Florida swamp lizards. Alligator hunting is growing in popularity with more and more deaths caused by these animals each year, not to my hunters but to folks happening into the gators territory during mating season.

Archery hunting for these giant animals is the most exciting thing you will ever do, legally. I provide a fully equipped crossbow set-up or you can choose to bring your own compound bow to harvest your animal. After the arrow strikes home, you wrestle your gator to boat side and finish him with a .357 cal bang stick just behind the skull. The best thing about this hunt is we always get you your gator. Many of the trophy sized gator my hunters harvest will measure over 12 feet and weigh upwards of 600 pounds. It will be the most unique mount in your trophy room, guaranteed.

Another opportunity Florida offers is our coastal waterfowl hunting. Near zero pressure provides my shooters some great morning and afternoon action on the salt marshes along the coast. We run hunts mostly from shoreline set-ups over decoys and occasionally hunt from layout boats over open water spreads of decoys. Cold blustery days are the best times to hunt the salt marsh with me but we manage to put on a good show of ducks nearly every trip out.
